The first hearings in the trial of the killer of Ghadeer Al-Sharabi’s father have taken place. The accused is outside the cage and the court announces the second accused

During his first hearing, Walid Shalaa, accused of the murder of the father of journalist Ghadeer Al-Sharabi, appeared outside the cage.

In a photo that has been circulating, Ghadeer Al-Sharabi and the Blood Guardians’ lawyer appear, and next to the accused, Walid Shalaa, outside the cage, dressed in a prison uniform, with his hands tied.
Social media activists considered the appearance of the accused outside the cage as contempt for justice, because the accused in a serious case that aroused public opinion should be in his place in the cage.

The defendant in the photo appeared to be mocking those standing next to him and the judges on the podium.

Ghadeer Al-Sharabi said the trial in western Taiz began its first session To judge those accused of the murder of his parents, led by a judge Ahmed Abdo Qasim, prosecutor Munir Mahyoub Al-Azab and secretary Omar Al-Bakari.

Al-Sharabi explained that the prosecution read the indictment decision to the accused Walid Shalaa and requested that the punishment of public retaliation be imposed on the accused, because he has a criminal record, as well as the fugitive accused, Elias Walid, because they pose a danger to society.

Al-Sharabi pointed out that the court announced the presence of the second defendant, Elias Walid.

The court decided to hold the second hearing next week.

Saif Mahmoud Faraj Al-Sharabi was killed in the courtyard of his house in the Al-Masbah neighborhood in the center of Taiz city on December 30, 2024, by gunfire. He asked her and other people near him to come out in front of his house because of the harassment and inconvenience this represented for him and his family. However, he shot him several times which killed him.
